Sabtah Sabtah

Sabtah is a son of Cush, son of Ham, son of Noah.

Both the name Sabtah and that of his brother Sabteca start out with sbt, which does not occur in Hebrew. The root sabab (sabb 1456), however, means turn or go around, encircle. Its derivation sibba indicates a turn of affairs. The final taw-he may be the result of grammatical doings; a plural in turn made feminine, without changing the verbal charge of the word.

Jones, however, suggest that the latter segment of the name may be from thh (thh 2494), the root of words like tohu (tohu 2494a) confusion or emptiness (Gen 1:2; the earth was tohu...), and tohola (tohola 2494b), error. Jones makes a giant leap of reasoning and states that this name means `Breaking Through' i.e. a terror to foes.

The truth is that the name Sabtah doesn't mean anything in Hebrew. But anyone creative enough might recognize a meaning of Encirclement or even Envelops Emptiness.
