The verb נזה (naza) occurs twenty four times in the Old Testament. It means to sprinkle and is mostly utilized in ritualistic scenes (Exodus 29:21, Leviticus 4:6, also see 1 Peter 1:2 and Hebrews 9:13-14). The medium to be sprinkled is mostly blood but also water (Numbers 8:7) and oil (Leviticus 8:11).

Isaiah 52:15 contains an occurrence of this verb but scholars aren't in agreement as to how to translate this verse. NAS, for instance, has "Thus he will sprinkle many nations," but others (BDB Theological Dictionary deems this 'dubious') choose to assume a similar verb that means to leap. These translate Isaiah 52:15 with, "So shall he cause to leap (either in joyful surprise or in startlement) many nations".
