Meaning and etymology of the name Lehabim

Lehabim Lehabim

The Lehabim are mentioned among the descendants of Mizraim, son of Ham, son of Noah (Genesis 10:13).

The name Lehabim comes from the unused root lhb (lhb). Its identical derivative lhb (lahab) means flame (Judges 13:20) or blade (Judges 3:22).
Derivative lehaba (lehaba) also means flame or tip of a weapon (1 Samuel 17:7). Derivative shalhebet (shalhebet) means flame as well (Song of Solomon 8:6).

For a meaning of the name Lehabim, NOBS Study Bible Name List reads Flaming. Jones' Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names has Flames, or more interpretative, Scorching Heat.
