Nehemiah
There are three Nehemiah's mentioned in the Bible. One returned to Jerusalem with Zerubabel in the early wave (Ezr 2:2). Another Nehemiah, a son of Azbuk, worked along those of the second wave (Neh 3:16). Lastly, there is the famous Nehemiah, son of Hacaliah, and author of the book that carries his name (Neh 1:1).
The name Nehemiah comes from the root (naham 1344), meaning comfort. Please see the name Nahum for a look at that root.
The second part of the name Nehemiah is , the abbreviated form of , the Name of God (see YHWH).
Together the name Nehemiah means The Lord Is Comfort.
