Jehozabad
There are three men named Jehozabad in the Bible, not counting those endowed with the contracted form of this name: Jozabad. The Jehozabads of the Bible are:
(1) A son of Shomer and/or Shimrith, a woman from Moab (like Ruth and Orpah), who conspires against king Joash of Judah and kills him. His comrogue is Jozacar, son of Shimeath, a woman of Ammon. Joash' son and successor Amaziah executes them both (2 Kings 12:21, 14:5, 2 Chronicles 24:26). (2) A son of Obed-edom (1 Chronicles 26:4), and (3) a military leader under king Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 17:18).
The name Jehozabad consists of two elements, the first being , Jehu, which in turn is an abbreviated form of the Tetragrammaton , YHWH, or Yahweh.
The second part of our name comes from the verb (zabad), meaning to bestow upon or endow with. This verb and its noun (zebed), meaning gift, occur only once in the narrative of the Bible, in Genesis 30:20, where Leah names her son Zebulun.
For a meaning of the name Jehozabad, NOBS Study Bible Name List reads Yahweh Has Bestowed and BDB Theological Dictionary has the similar Yah Hath Bestowed.
Jones' Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names suggests the slightly different Whom The Lord Gave.
