The name Alian occurs only one time in the Bible. He is listed among the sons of Seir the Horite (1 Chronicles 1:40). In Genesis 36:23 occurs the same name list, but here this man is called Alvan, which is quite similar a name.
The same alternate spelling occurs with Alian's brother Shepho/Shephi.
