🔼The name Alvah in the Bible

🔼Etymology of the name Alvah
There are quite a few ways to go about this name, but scholars agree that it comes from the following root group:
NOBSE Study Bible Name List takes our name from the verb עלה ('ala), meaning to rise, and reads High, Tall.
Alfred Jones (Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names) and BDB Theological Dictionary, however, report that our name is identical to a curious word that occurs only in Hosea 10:9, and which most likely derives from the root-verb עול. BDB doest translate our name but Jones reads Iniquity.
