Jobab
There are five Jobabs mentioned in the Bible. The first Jobab is a son of Joktan. Others are a king of Edom (Genesis 36:33); a Canaanite king in league with Jabin king of Hazor and defeated by Joshua (Joshua 11:1); and two Benjaminites (1 Chronicles 8:9 and 18).
The name Jobab comes from the root (yabab) meaning cry or call shrilly. The only occurrence of this verb is in Judges 5:28:
"Out the window she looked and lamented, the mother of Sisera, through the lattice..."
For a meaning of the name Jobab, NOBS Study Bible Name List reads To Call Shrilly. Jones' Dictionary of Old Testament Proper Names reads Crying Out.
