Jobab Jobab

There are five Jobabs mentioned in the Bible. The first Jobab is a son of Joktan. Others are a king of Edom (Gen 36:33); a Canaanite king in league with Jabin king of Hazor and defeated by Joshua (Josh 11:1); and two Benjaminites (1 Chr 8:9 and 18).

The name Jobab comes from the root yabab (yabab 834) meaning cry or call shrilly. The only occurrence of this verb is in Jud 5:28.

Jobab means To Call Shrilly.
