Meaning and etymology of the name Oshea

Oshea Oshea

The name Oshea does not occur in all English Bibles, and it really shouldn't occur at all because there's no reason for it. But it so happened that in the past people have transliterated the name of the son of Nun, whom Moses renamed Joshua, into Oshea (Numbers 13:8, see v16).

In modern translations this name is most commonly written as Hoshea or Hosea. Please see the articles on those names for meaning and origin.
